The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, has launched a five-day training programme under Project MATE (Mind Activation Through Education). The initiative, running from August 26 to August 30 at AIIMS Delhi, is designed to empower school counsellors with structured frameworks to improve student wellness.
Developed by AIIMS Delhi, Project MATE follows the “MATE-5” framework, focusing on enhancing resilience, coping strategies, and peer connectivity among adolescents. The programme begins with 50 counsellors and wellness teachers from CBSE-affiliated schools in Delhi-NCR, offering them training on stress management, emotional disconnection, and loneliness.
The sessions are facilitated by experts in psychiatry, psychology, and communication, covering diverse themes such as the biopsychosocial model of health, nutrition, family roles, coping with anxiety, digital well-being, and counselling approaches. Counsellors will also gain insights into parental sensitisation, peer support systems, and tools for impact assessment.
This initiative is part of CBSE’s broader efforts to promote mental health and well-being in schools, which also include upcoming offline parenting workshops across five cities.
